Budgeting your money is a great way to keep track of your finances. Unfortunately, popular budgeting app Money Dashboard Neon has announced that it is shutting down for good. If you're a user of their app and are looking for an alternative, we've got you covered.

Why Is Money Dashboard Closing Down?

On 3rd October 2023, Money Dashboard sent out an email to its users (myself included) letting them know that the app will cease to operate from 31st October 2023. The brand stated the reason for this is they 'could not find a sustainable business model for the apps and are therefore unable to continue supporting the services'. If you're an existing user, any open and active accounts will be permanently closed on the 31st October.

It's sad to see the app go as it was a great budgeting app for many. If you're looking for alternatives, here are the apps to check out:

Emma - Money Management App

Emma is a budgeting app that allows you to connect all of your bank accounts in one place to manage your finances and your spending. By having your finances in one place, it can help you to cut down on overdraft costs, never miss a bill and, most importantly, have full control over your finances.

Key Features:

  • Track wasteful subscriptions - Link your bank account to the app and Emma will be able to give you a list of your recurring, active subscriptions.  You're able to view the full history of each subscription and see any price changes to identify where you might need to reign in your spending.
  • All accounts in one place - The great thing about Emma is the ability to view all of your accounts in one central hub. You can connect current and savings accounts, credit cards, investments, pensions and even cryptocurrencies to this app. You're able to view all of your transactions in one place as well as manually add any transactions that have been missed or are not yet supported by Emma. They support most UK, US and Canadian banks such as American Express, Chip and Starling Bank.
  • Smart budgets - Create smart budgets within the app to help you to keep track of your spending. Enter in your pay period and set up your budgets to watch Emma do the rest for you. Emma will analyse transactions across all of your accounts and assign them to the relevant categories. You can also dive deeper into your finances and see all of your transactions with specific merchants to be able to assess potential areas for improvement.
  • Investing with ease - Invest in popular stocks for as little as £1. Buy and sell more than 1,000 US stocks and create a watchlist to track your next investment.

You're able to get started with Emma for free and they have three different paid tiers that offer other additional benefits.
